RENT

September 2 – 7, 2014

Sometimes labeled a rock opera, this contemporary musical is set in the Lower East Side section of New York City, where aspiring young bohemians struggle to live and pay their rent. This group of artists and musicians share their love of the arts and measure their quality of life in love and acceptance amid poverty, illness and the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Fate stepped in the night before Rent’s off-Broadway opening with the sudden death of Jonathan Larson, the show’s creator. The show won both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1996. When it closed its 12-year run, it became the 9th longest running musical, accomplishing 5124 performances. A film was made in 2005 with many principal roles played by actors of the original Broadway cast.

Show is R-rated and presented with original content and strong language.
